Cleveland Metropolitan School District graduates Morgen Rosario and Tasneema Shaik to pursue medical studies at Case Western Reserve University
CLEVELAND (May 5, 2026) – The Joan C. Edwards Charitable Foundation is pleased to announce the recipients of this year’s Edwards Scholarship, which covers tuition, room, board, and other educational expenses at Case Western Reserve University and the Case School of Medicine.
This year’s recipients are Morgen Rosario, a senior at Cleveland Early College High School, and Tasneema Shaik, a senior at Cleveland School of Science & Medicine.
“Morgen and Tasneema are smart, passionate, and driven to make a positive impact in their communities here in Cleveland,” said Brian McDonald, Executive Director of the Joan C. Edwards Charitable Foundation. “They are both so exceptional that we awarded two scholarships in one year. In addition, these scholars come from the last graduating class from two Cleveland Metropolitan School District (CMSD) schools impacted by the district’s reorganization.”
The Joan C. Edwards Scholarship was created to encourage a pipeline of talented students from the CMSD into Cleveland’s medical community. The scholarship recognizes students with a passion for medicine, strong academic achievement, and a commitment to serving others.
“Creating opportunity is only part of our mission,” said McDonald. “By relieving the financial burden of eight years of undergraduate and medical education, the Edwards Scholarship gives students the freedom to pursue the kind of medicine that matters most to them, whatever that may be.”
In addition to its scholarship program, the Foundation provides mentoring and long-term support to students from underrepresented communities, helping guide them from high school through college and medical school.
