The next class in the Joan C. Edwards Health Profession Pipeline Program (H3P) were installed last month for the 2026-27 school year in the organization’s annual induction ceremony.

H3P is a student-governed group in Cleveland School of Science and Medicine (CSSM) that was founded and designed to help interested young people pursuing future healthcare and science education and careers. Its combination of academic preparation, career exposure, internships, and research opportunities also serves as a wellspring for future Joan C. Edwards Scholarship applicants and awardees.

The induction process celebrates each member’s dedication to personal growth, leadership development, academic excellence, and service to the school and surrounding community. By becoming an inducted member, students affirm their commitment to supporting their peers, promoting the values of H3P, and contributing positively to the organization’s goals and initiatives.

“Nurturing talent and providing career pathways also requires a robust community of student leaders who share a passion for learning and discovery,” says Brian McDonald, Executive Director of the Joan C. Edwards Charitable Foundation. “We couldn’t be more pleased to share in their excitement and continue supporting H3P’s activities.”

Edward Scholar Esther Umezurike-Chukwu reflected on the H3P Club  in a recent interview:  “My most standout moments were when in our H3P club…hearing from students who are studying at the medical school opened my eyes to what a future in medicine would look like and the rigor that was involved.”

During the induction ceremony, new members were formally welcomed into the H3P community, received an official H3P membership pin, and recited the H3P Pledge as a public affirmation of their commitment to the program’s mission and values.

H3P Induction marks a significant milestone in a student’s journey, signifying the transition from participant to full member of the organization. Induction recognizes students who have demonstrated consistent engagement with the club’s mission through regular attendance at H3P meetings, active participation in program activities, and a commitment to serving others through club-sponsored community service initiatives.
